It all started at a young age. My mother was in the design field (interior design and graphic design) when I was a child...so I got my creativity from her. Whereas in complete opposition, my father was in the military as an air traffic controller, so very structured and scientific about everything.
I bridge the gap between a creative and a noncreative, by taking what a creative (graphic/web designer) has designed and make it into a website by using very precise and well thought out coding practices. Unlike most coders, however, I can design, but do consider myself, through and through, a coder first.
My expertise lies in CSS development, coupled with XHTML, and an extensive knowledge in: PHP, ASP, jQuery, XML and some JS/AJAX. Did I mention I am also strictly a code-by-hand coder? I have never used a program that would generate any (X)HTML for me. (I started in Windows Notepad, and have moved to a permanent use of Adobe HomeSite.)
At this point in my career I have worked for some amazing companies doing what I am great at. I am currently at Element Fusion, one of the top development shops in the state of Oklahoma, with a worldwide presence.
Prior to Element Fusion, I've worked for an Oklahoma City advertising agency, an Edmond based web development company and an Oklahoma City based web development company. It was at these companies that I dove head first into full time CSS development and web standards, in fact, I was solely responsible for taking the companies into using CSS and web standards, while also keeping in mind web accessibility.
